Design Internship-Winter 2022

During the winter term of my Junior year I had the privilege of working at SheetLabels located in Glens Falls, NY as a Design Support Associate. As a Design Support Associate, I proofed client’s artwork, sizing and adjusting artwork to be print ready. At SheetLabels we offer templates for popular labels such as Hand Sanitizer labels, Hot Sauce labels, Candle labels, and more!

My jobsite also happens to be just down the street from my Grandma Donna’s house, so I go over to her house for my lunch breaks. Anyways, she and my Aunt Sam sell their chicken eggs to friends and family for a few dollars. During a lunch break, grandma and I got to talking about how I was working on some label templates for work. I told her that I was working on Egg Carton labels, and she got so excited saying that we should surprise my Aunt Sam with labels for her chicken egg cartons. Together we measured the center of the egg cartons we had on hand and decided to order a 5.5” x 2” label, so that the label would go down the center. I helped design and place the order for our labels. My Aunt calls her home, “On the Rocks Ranch,” so I thought it would be fun and silly to design a label that had a Chicken drinking, and three little chicks along the bottom. Once my design was complete I went ahead and proofed my order and approved it. From there the production team created a print file for the artwork. The blue lines on the print file show where the cutter would cut the artwork to size. Please check out the images of my process in creating the label as well as what the finished product will look like.

On January 15th My Grandma Donna drove my younger sister and I up to North Creek to surprise Sam with her labels. When we got there we met Sam in her shop in which she does various taxidermy jobs. There we gave her the newly labeled egg cartons and spare labels. She absolutely loved them and made sure to get a picture with the labeled carton with all her feathered friends!

  5. Now we need a market design for “Donna’s Ducks” eggs..I’ll refrain now. And don’t forget Grandpa Gary’s “Faster than a speeding bullet” but that’s probably against copywriting. Nice internship. Good luck next semester.
